Henry V 1989 by Kenneth Branagh, Clip 'O Kate, we are the makers of manners...'
The Image: That huge chamber; the crowns; the regalia; the new woven flag representing the dual monarchy of England and France - the notion of Great Kings being the 'makers of manners'. It's all here...
I love this clip. (Though obviously very politically incorrect - having a beautiful young princess being delivered as part of the spoils of war!)
When Branagh smilingly advises Kate: 'Take me/Take a soldier/Take a soldier - Take a King' - that is one of my favourite quotes from Shakespeare - the repetition of 'take' and its steady build up to 'Take a king' (it's called anaphora as you may know...)

He is walking through an empty film studio and ends his monologue by opening the doors to begin the main action. Chorus reappears several times during the film, his speeches helping to explain and progress the action. All clips uploaded solely for celebration and education.... All clips have...

[I am incredibly honoured that eminent American composer, Paul Lansky himself has personally given me permission to use his audio and has even said that my video is 'lovely' (!)] This video is based on Paul Lansky's astonishing electronic rendering of a passage from Jane Eyre where Jane is explaining to Mr Rochester a Gothic-type dream she has experienced that seems to foretell the destruction ...

Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright Their frail deeds might have danced in a green b...

The actor who played Banquo was excellent, exactly how I pictured him speaking in my mind for years. And I love Denzel, but a Shakespearian thespian he is not, his voice just doesn't sit right for me for Macbeth.

Although in Ireland and a different way of life the attitude of teachers towards pupils varied. I wanted to be a speech therapist and the career guidance teacher told me that girls from my background (council) didn't usually go to college and that ended my education as a young teenager I took her word for it and thought why bother so. I didn't tell my hard working parents because I didn't want to upset them, but when I told my mother years later she was devastated because she couldn't understand at that time I turned from a top grade student to skipping school.

If you're sick of nonsensical movies in today's world, read old literature they're more fun and exciting than today. I read a literary work by a Russian writer titled "Lazarus" it blew my mind at how dark it was yet compelling at the same time.
